Daily Harvest acquired by Chobani in mission-aligned move to expand access to clean, plant-based foods

May 19, 2025

Daily Harvest, the direct-to-consumer brand known for its frozen plant-based meals, has been acquired by Chobani in a move both companies describe as mission-aligned and focused on long-term growth.

Announced in a message from Daily Harvest CEO Ricky Silver, the deal marks what he calls “a new chapter” for the company. “Like us, Chobani is deeply committed to nourishing people, uplifting communities, and using business as a force for good,” Silver wrote. “This acquisition is a natural next step – and one that we believe will bring even more goodness your way.”

Founded with a goal to improve access to organic fruits and vegetables, Daily Harvest has carved out a niche offering items such as smoothies, harvest bowls, soups, and flatbreads – all made from plant-based, sustainably sourced ingredients and delivered directly to consumers. Over recent years, it has expanded its product range and built a loyal customer base among health-conscious shoppers.

Chobani, best known for its yogurt products, has increasingly positioned itself as a food and beverage company with broader ambitions. The acquisition of Daily Harvest follows the company’s investments in oat milk, probiotic drinks, and coffee creamers, and reflects an ongoing shift toward diversified wellness offerings.

In his announcement, Silver emphasized continuity for existing customers. “Your plan, your favorite items, our website, your Care team – are all here and unchanged,” he said. “What will be new are the exciting possibilities ahead: fresh ideas, new innovations, and continued dedication to making your experience even better.”

Financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed. However, both companies have indicated that Daily Harvest will continue operating under its current brand, with backing from Chobani to scale operations and bring new products to market.

Daily Harvest has faced challenges in the past, including a high-profile recall of its French Lentil + Leek Crumbles in 2022. The company has since refocused its efforts on quality, transparency, and supply chain integrity. The acquisition by Chobani may help reinforce consumer confidence as it looks to expand.

For Chobani, the acquisition offers a way to deepen its presence in the frozen and plant-based sectors, while building on its brand’s reputation for health-forward and accessible products.

Daily Harvest’s customers are being reassured that the core offering – organic, chef-crafted meals delivered frozen and ready to eat – will remain the same. “We are so incredibly grateful to have you with us,” Silver wrote. “Your support has made this moment possible, and we’re honored to keep growing alongside you.”

Neither company has yet commented on potential new product lines or operational changes, but Silver hinted at “fresh ideas” and “new innovations” to come.

With the deal now official, Daily Harvest joins a growing list of plant-forward brands aligning with larger food companies to accelerate scale and reach. What remains to be seen is how the brand will evolve under new ownership – and what that means for the broader frozen food landscape.
