Foodiq secures €10 million to expand MLC tech and target global dairy disruption
Finland-based food technology company Foodiq has raised €10 million (around US$10.8 million) in equity funding to accelerate international expansion and scaleup its proprietary Multi-Layer Cooking (MLC) technology, which it believes has the potential to disrupt the global dairy industry.
The funding round was led by prominent investors Saeid Binzagr and Mathias Kamprad, and marks a pivotal moment for the Helsinki-headquartered company as it prepares to enter new markets in Asia and North America. The company will also use the funds to recruit additional talent to support its growth plans.
At the heart of Foodiq’s strategy is MLC, a patented food processing system designed to enable efficient, scalable, and sustainable production of dairy and dairy-style products using a wide variety of ingredients and formats. According to the company, the technology allows for full product creation – from raw material to packaged output — in a single streamlined process.
CEO and Co-founder Robert Savikko described the funding as an endorsement of the company’s mission. “This raise is a strong vote of confidence in our vision and business model,” he said. “We’re proud to remain fully focused on food tech – where innovation, sustainability, and scalability meet. With this funding, we’re ready to bring our technology to the world stage and help build a smarter, cleaner, and more local food future.”
MLC offers several operational and environmental benefits that Foodiq says set it apart from conventional processing systems. These include its adaptability to a wide range of ingredients and dietary requirements, support for local sourcing to reduce food miles, and its ability to rapidly move from pilot to full industrial production.
The all-in-one system is intended to meet the growing global demand for both traditional and alternative dairy products – including plant-based yogurts, puddings, cheeses, and more without the logistical complexity and inefficiencies associated with standard production methods.
By allowing producers to use regionally available raw materials and customize product development for local markets, Foodiq hopes its MLC system can serve as a flexible platform for global partners looking to enter or expand in the dairy space, especially in emerging markets where transportation and cold chain infrastructure pose challenges.
With consumer interest in sustainability, clean-label products, and local production continuing to grow, the company sees its platform as well-positioned to serve these trends at scale.
The new funding is expected to significantly accelerate rollout of the MLC technology internationally, with Foodiq planning to engage food manufacturers and brand owners across Asia and North America in the coming year.
