Givaudan invests US$215 million in new Ohio site to boost North American operations

October 8, 2025

Givaudan Taste & Wellbeing has broken ground on a major new production facility in Reading, Ohio, marking one of its largest investments in the USA in recent years. The 24,000m2 site, located near Cincinnati, represents an initial investment of CHF 187 million (US$215 million) and will play a key role in strengthening the company’s North American footprint.

The new facility will focus on liquid flavor and taste solutions for food and beverage manufacturers and will sit within a 100,000m2 plot, leaving room for future expansion. It will complement Givaudan’s existing network of 17 Taste & Wellbeing sites across the USA and Canada.

“This new facility represents our largest investment in the USA in many years, demonstrating the importance of the market to Givaudan and to the food and beverage industry,” commented Gilles Andrier, Chief Executive Officer. “It is a tangible example of Givaudan’s 2030 strategy in action, strengthening our market and operational presence, extending customer reach, and advancing sustainable, innovative solutions that consumers love.”

The company said the project reflects its long-term growth ambitions and its commitment to advancing environmentally responsible manufacturing. The site is designed to maximize production efficiency while reducing environmental impact and is expected to create more than 300 jobs across a range of disciplines once fully operational.

Antoine Khalil, President Taste & Wellbeing North America, said the investment would enhance Givaudan’s ability to serve customers more effectively. “By expanding our operational capabilities, we’re positioning ourselves for future innovation as we continue to deliver tailored solutions within North America,” he said. “Driven by the dedication of our employees, the new facility will strengthen our ability to help grow customer brands by delivering distinctive, memorable food experiences that resonate with consumers.”

Givaudan also announced that the site will integrate sustainability measures from the outset. The facility will operate without the use of natural gas, contributing to the company’s broader efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Additional technologies, including carbon bed filtration, will be installed to further minimize environmental impact.

The company said it will support local community initiatives linked to the new site, including educational programs developed in collaboration with regional partners. These efforts align with Givaudan’s stated purpose of creating happier, healthier lives through food experiences while contributing positively to local economies.

Construction is already underway, with completion expected within 18 months. Partial operations are set to begin in 2027.

Based in Switzerland, Givaudan is one of the world’s leading flavor, fragrance, and nutrition companies, serving global food and beverage manufacturers across multiple product categories. The investment in Ohio underscores its strategy to increase production capacity in key markets while embedding sustainability into every stage of its operations.
