Givaudan unveils Myromi, a handheld aroma device to accelerate flavor development
Givaudan recently introduced Myromi, a patent-pending handheld aroma delivery device designed to streamline the flavor development process and deepen customer collaboration. Controlled via smartphone and integrated with a custom digital interface, the new tool allows users to blend aromas, capture instant feedback, and iterate on flavor concepts in real time.
The company unveiled Myromi as part of its expanding suite of digital technologies aimed at enhancing co-creation with clients. Lightweight and portable, the device is intended to be used in various settings – from labs to offices to remote locations – offering a flexible, cost-effective approach to product development.
“Myromi adds to our growing suite of digital tools for collaborating with customers to speed up product development,” commented Fabio Campanile, Global Head of Science & Technology, Givaudan Taste & Wellbeing. “Once connected, users can explore saved aroma profiles, create new blends, leave comments, enter liking scores and fill out surveys. These capabilities eliminate much of the guesswork involved in formulation. From quickly determining product development direction to landing on the right flavour profile, the device is already delivering results.”
The technology addresses several longstanding challenges in the flavor development process. Traditional methods of collecting consumer feedback can be time-consuming and expensive, often delaying decision-making and reducing the likelihood of a successful market launch. Myromi™ aims to solve this by enabling rapid iteration, faster alignment between developers and consumers, and more precise understanding of consumer preferences.
The device features up to eight individual flavor channels, which can be mixed and adjusted via a simple interface. According to Givaudan, this capability makes it easier to test a range of combinations during development sessions, significantly reducing the time from concept to finalized formulation.
In addition to streamlining formulation, Myromi fosters clearer communication. By helping both consumers and formulators align on flavor descriptors and preferences, the tool establishes a shared vocabulary that improves the quality of feedback. Givaudan believes this clarity will lead to more successful product launches by aligning technical development with sensory expectations.
The rollout of Myromi is planned for gradual implementation across Givaudan’s global operations throughout 2025, with availability focused on internal and customer-facing development teams.
