GNT launches plant-based EXBERRY pet food ingredients for kibbles, snacks and treats

May 19, 2026

GNT has launched a new plant-based EXBERRY Pet Food Range, expanding its natural color concentrates into cat and dog food as manufacturers respond to rising demand for premium products made with recognizable, non-GMO ingredients.

GNT launched a plant-based EXBERRY Pet Food Range for products including kibbles, snacks, and treats.
The range used fruit, vegetable, and plant concentrates from ingredients including apples, carrots, radishes, turmeric, and spirulina.
GNT confirmed the concentrates complied with applicable EU regulations for pet food.

The company, a global supplier of natural colors for food and drink, has developed the new range for pet food manufacturers seeking to create products with bright visual appeal while maintaining plant-based ingredient lists. The concentrates are designed to deliver color, taste, and nutrition across formats including kibbles, snacks, and treats.

GNT reported that the range was fully compliant with applicable European Union regulations for pet food. The company added that the concentrates allowed manufacturers to create “a full rainbow of intense shades” using non-GMO raw materials.

Christina Niehoff, Product Manager at GNT Group, said, “We are delighted to be able to supply our high-quality EXBERRY products to pet food manufacturers. Consumer focus on pet health and wellness is increasing at a rapid pace, with owners looking for high-quality products made with natural ingredients. Our color-intense, plant-based ingredients make it possible for manufacturers to create more natural products while still achieving visual differentiation.”

The launch comes as pet food brands increasingly use claims such as “natural” and “no artificial colors” to appeal to owners seeking products that more closely mirror food trends in human nutrition. GNT stated that the EXBERRY Pet Food Range was developed to support formulations aligned with these demands.

The concentrates are produced from plant-based raw materials including apples, carrots, radishes, turmeric, and spirulina. GNT confirmed they were made using gentle processing methods and without chemical solvents.

“The EXBERRY Pet Food range offers a truly natural solution for cat and dog food,” Niehoff said. “GNT has vast formulation experience working with equivalent applications in food and drink, and we are delighted to now be able to provide our expertise to pet food manufacturers as well. They can rely on us to provide the same high quality and exceptional service that has made EXBERRY one of the world’s leading natural color brands.”

The company said the range was designed to help manufacturers create visually differentiated pet food products while meeting demand for more natural ingredient declarations.
