Heura expands plant-based range with Tex-Mex Chunks

Heura Foods has introduced Tex-Mex Chunks, its first plant-based product specifically designed for Mexican cuisine. The latest addition to its Chunks range, the new offering is positioned as a high-protein, additive-free alternative that maintains the traditional flavors and aromas associated with Mexican dishes.

The launch marks the first of five new products that Heura plans to release in 2025. With consumer interest in Mexican cuisine continuing to grow, Heura aims to cater to demand with a product that aligns with both nutritional and sustainability considerations.

According to data from Kantar, demand for Mexican cuisine products has risen by 30% in volume and 39% in value in recent years. This increase places Mexican food among the top three most consumed global cuisines, behind only Italian and Thai. Heura’s expansion into this category reflects the growing appetite for plant-based options that align with evolving consumer preferences.

At Heura, we continue to push for foods with a greater impact on our health and the planet, so we can enjoy every day,” said Marc Coloma, CEO and co-founder of Heura Foods. “Our Chunks, which are the best-selling product in the category, together with the growing trend of Mexican cuisine, have led us to create an alternative that responds to what consumers want: nutrition, sustainability, and a delicious experience.”

Tex-Mex Chunks are designed to serve as a versatile ingredient in a range of Mexican-inspired dishes. The product provides 27% of the recommended daily protein intake, is free from additives, and serves as a source of fiber. Additionally, it is fortified with vitamin B12, an essential nutrient often associated with animal-based products.

Heura has positioned itself as a brand focused on both nutrition and sustainability. By offering plant-based alternatives that closely mimic traditional meat products in taste and texture, the company seeks to expand consumer options while reducing the environmental footprint of food production.

“With this new launch, we take another step forward in transforming the food industry, challenging its limits, and ensuring that there are more and more options that place consumer health at the center, without sacrificing the experience and enjoyment of their favorite dishes,” added Coloma.

The introduction of Tex-Mex Chunks builds on Heura’s existing range, which includes Original and Mediterranean Chunks. This expansion reflects the company’s broader strategy of diversifying its product offerings to meet changing consumer preferences.
