Juicy Marbles and Revo Foods launch plant-based salmon filet after Kinda Cod sells out in an hour

August 5, 2025

Juicy Marbles, the company known for its marbled plant-based steaks and vegan ribs, has launched its first whole-cut salmon alternative, ‘Kinda Salmon’, exclusively via its US online store. The product is the second release in the company’s new 'Juicy Marbles & Friends' line, developed in collaboration with Austrian alt-seafood innovator Revo Foods.

The launch follows the sell-out debut of Kinda Cod, which Juicy Marbles dropped in limited quantities in July. The company said 1,000 units sold out in just over an hour, driven by strong consumer interest and positive feedback on taste and texture.

“Loved it! The flakiness is unreal!” and “It was very codlike… bravo…” were just some of the direct messages the company received via Instagram after the release.

Co-founder, Luka Sinček, sees the new salmon filet as another step toward more versatile, ingredient-style plant-based seafood options. “When it comes to plant proteins, our goal is to give you the closest thing to a wholesome, raw ingredient as we can,” he said. “Clearly, there’s demand for plant-based fish products that feel like real ingredients, rather than pre-packaged meals. And Kinda Salmon does that with panache.”

The product comes as a 110g unbreaded filet, lightly seasoned with pink pepper and lemon. It’s made with fermented fungi-based mycoprotein and structured to provide a firm yet tender bite. Each filet contains 13g of protein, 117mg DHA and 74mg EPA from microalgae oil, and is a source of fiber and key micronutrients including vitamins B6, B12, and folate.

According to the company, Kinda Salmon is designed for versatility, making it suitable for everything from high-protein salads and sandwiches to one-pot bakes. By avoiding the typical breaded or pre-fried format of many fish alternatives, it caters to consumers looking for healthier, cleaner-label seafood options.

The collaboration with Revo Foods reflects a broader strategic shift toward joint innovation and distribution. “Juicy Marbles has built an international brand. We have pent-up demand for our products in the US we’ve been unable to supply,” said Revo Foods CEO Robin Simsa. “So teaming up fulfills both our companies’ missions. I believe this collaborative mindset is key to bringing the whole field forward.”

Juicy Marbles says more co-branded products are in the pipeline for 2025, with the ‘& Friends’ line positioned as a platform for spotlighting cutting-edge offerings from other alt-protein pioneers. For now, Kinda Salmon is available through Juicy Marbles’ US webshop, with a UK release planned and EU availability through Revo Foods’ existing retail partners.
