MycoTechnology adds former Coca-Cola and Kraft Heinz R&D leader to board

September 1, 2025

MycoTechnology has appointed Dr Robert Scott to its Board of Directors, adding more than 25 years of leadership experience in food and beverage innovation, commercialization, and organizational transformation.

Dr Scott is currently president of Albany State University in Georgia, a role he assumed in May 2025. His career spans corporate, academic, and nonprofit sectors, with senior leadership positions at Coca-Cola, Kraft Heinz, Abbott Nutrition, and Procter & Gamble, as well as faculty and administrative roles at several US colleges and universities.

Rob Case, Chairman of the Board at MycoTechnology, said the appointment strengthens the company’s expertise at a pivotal time. “We are thrilled to welcome Robert to the MycoTechnology Board of Directors,” he said. “Robert’s broad understanding of the food and beverage industry and specifically his beverage category sweetener expertise will be especially valuable as we commercialize and bring to market our revolutionary new ingredient, Honey Truffle Sweet Protein, which is naturally derived from the honey truffle and delivers a uniquely clean taste profile with minimal off-notes.”

Jordi Ferre, CEO of MycoTechnology, said Scott’s perspective will help the company align with customer needs as it grows. “Robert’s contributions to the board will be important by providing the customer view as we continue to expand our portfolio of natural ingredient solutions from mushroom mycelia fermentation into the global food and beverage markets,” he said.

At Kraft Heinz, Dr. Scott served as President of R&D, where he oversaw the transformation of the company’s global R&D organization through innovation and operational alignment. At Coca-Cola, he was Vice President of R&D, leading sweetener technology development, ingredient discovery, and international teams across the US, Latin America, Europe, China, and Japan. His earlier career included serving as Division Vice President at Abbott Nutrition and leadership roles at Procter & Gamble.

Alongside his corporate career, Dr. Scott has also worked in academia, including as Associate Dean at Spelman College and Boston College, and Assistant Professor of Biology at Norfolk State University.

His appointment comes as MycoTechnology continues to scale its portfolio of natural ingredients derived from mushroom mycelia fermentation. The company has been preparing for the commercial launch of its Honey Truffle Sweet Protein, a novel sweetener with a clean taste profile that it expects will appeal to global food and beverage companies seeking alternatives to traditional sweeteners.
