Royal Tempeh earns USDA Organic certification, bolstering trust in plant-based protein
Royal Tempeh, a plant-based protein brand under Los Angeles-based Jans Enterprises Corp, has officially earned USDA Organic certification, a milestone that aligns its offering with growing demand for healthy, sustainable, and transparent food options in the USA.
“Achieving USDA Organic certification reinforces our mission to offer healthy, authentic, eco-conscious protein,” commented Anthony Kartawinata, CEO of Jans Enterprises Corp. “Every Royal Tempeh pack reflects integrity, sustainability, and better living.”
Produced using traditional Indonesian fermentation methods, Royal Tempeh offers a clean-label protein source made with certified organic ingredients. The certification ensures that each product adheres to the strict guidelines set out by the National Organic Program (NOP), covering everything from ingredient sourcing to fermentation and packaging.
The brand enters the organic marketplace at a time when US consumers are increasingly favoring certified products. According to industry trends, buyers are actively seeking out plant-based options that carry official seals of transparency and sustainability. Royal Tempeh responds to this demand with a line of non-GMO, vegan, and gluten-free tempeh products containing 21g of protein per serving.
“Consumers today care not just about what they eat, but how it’s made,” added Kartawinata. “Our USDA certification means they can trust that Royal Tempeh is made with care, without shortcuts, and in line with sustainable values.”
Each batch of Royal Tempeh is produced according to an Organic System Plan that is audited and approved under USDA guidelines. This includes exclusive use of certified organic soybeans, avoidance of synthetic pesticides and GMOs, and sustainable practices such as crop rotation and natural pest control.
Royal Tempeh is also focused on preserving the authentic taste and nutritional quality of traditional Indonesian tempeh. The fermentation process is central to that goal. “We believe in making real food that’s rooted in tradition but produced with the highest standards of quality,” Kartawinata added.
The certification reinforces Royal Tempeh’s position in a competitive and rapidly growing segment. As health-conscious and environmentally aware consumers scrutinize product labels more closely, the USDA Organic seal serves as a mark of trust and credibility.
It also helps the brand address three intersecting consumer priorities: personal health, environmental stewardship, and supply chain transparency. The company’s operations are fully documented in the Organic Integrity Database, a public resource confirming compliance with national standards.
By offering both frozen tempeh blocks and seasoned tempeh snacks, Royal Tempeh aims to appeal to a broad range of eaters – from plant-based newcomers to long-time vegan consumers. Its products are now available nationwide, with direct ordering offered through its website.
Kartawinata sees the certification as more than a regulatory milestone. “It’s about delivering on our promise to make better food available to more people,” he said. “Organic is part of how we build trust, and we’re proud to bring that to every plate.”
With its USDA Organic certification now in place, Royal Tempeh plans to expand its distribution and deepen its role in the US plant-based protein landscape – one trusted, high-protein bite at a time.
