Arboreal Bioinnovations secures US$24.1 million Series A to expand next-generation ingredient platform

August 3, 2026

Specialty food and nutraceutical ingredients company Arboreal Bioinnovations has raised Rs230 crore (US$24.1 million) in a Series A funding round to expand its manufacturing capabilities, strengthen research and development, and accelerate the commercialization of its ingredient technologies.

Arboreal Bioinnovations raised Rs230 crore (US$24.1 million) in a Series A round co-led by EAAA and Omnivore, with participation from existing investor Rainmatter by Zerodha.
The company said it will expand manufacturing capacity, strengthen R&D capabilities and accelerate commercialization of new functional ingredient platforms.
Arboreal develops specialty ingredients for more than 1,100 business customers across food, beverage, nutraceutical and consumer packaged goods markets in India.

The funding round was co-led by EAAA, the alternatives investment arm of Edelweiss, and agrifood venture capital firm Omnivore, with existing investor Rainmatter by Zerodha also participating.

Lucknow-based Arboreal said the investment will be used to increase production capacity, enhance its research and development capabilities, and bring its next generation of functional ingredients to market more quickly.

Founded in 2018 by Swati Pandey and Manish Chauhan, the company develops specialty ingredients and technology solutions for food, beverage, nutraceutical and consumer packaged goods companies. Its portfolio spans next-generation proteins, sugar reduction technologies, cocoa ingredients and nutraceutical actives.

Arboreal said its ingredients are designed to help manufacturers develop products that align with changing consumer preferences and nutritional requirements in India.

The company currently serves more than 1,100 business-to-business customers across the country, providing ingredient development and supply chain solutions for food and beverage brands seeking to launch and scale new products.

Arboreal's approach focuses on what it describes as "contextual innovation," developing ingredients based on the nutritional, functional, sensory and commercial requirements of local consumers and manufacturers rather than applying one-size-fits-all solutions.

Its technology platform combines ingredient engineering, process research, formulation science and precision manufacturing to develop specialized ingredients for the food and nutrition sectors.

Since its launch, the company has commercialized proprietary ingredients across several categories, including next-generation proteins, cocoa alternatives, natural zero-calorie sweeteners and functional fibers. It is also developing additional ingredient platforms as it expands its product portfolio.

The funding comes as demand for healthier foods, alternative proteins and functional nutrition products continues to grow in India. Food and beverage manufacturers are increasingly investing in ingredients that can improve nutritional profiles while meeting consumer expectations for taste, functionality and sustainability.

With the additional capital, Arboreal plans to strengthen its manufacturing infrastructure and increase its ability to support customers from product development through to commercial-scale production.

The investment also reflects continued investor interest in India's food technology sector, where companies are developing ingredient innovations aimed at improving nutrition, sustainability and product performance. Arboreal's strategy combines in-house research with manufacturing capabilities to help food and wellness brands develop differentiated products for the domestic market, while also supporting future expansion opportunities beyond India.
