DKSH signs exclusive DACH deal to distribute Yeastup’s upcycled yeast fiber

May 1, 2026

DKSH has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Swiss food-tech company Yeastup AG to expand the market presence of a dietary fiber ingredient made from brewer’s spent yeast across Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.

DKSH has entered an exclusive agreement to distribute Yeastup’s UpFiber Beta-Glucan across Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.
Yeastup produces functional ingredients from brewer’s spent yeast using a patented process.
UpFiber Beta-Glucan has been developed for dietary supplements, functional foods, and nutrition applications.

The agreement covers UpFiber Beta-Glucan, a yeast-derived fiber ingredient developed for use in dietary supplements, functional foods, and other nutrition products. DKSH’s Business Unit Performance Materials will provide business development, marketing, sales, logistics, and distribution services for the ingredient across the DACH region.

The partnership follows Yeastup’s recent move into industrial-scale production, after the company opened its first commercial facility in Lyss, Switzerland, to process brewer’s yeast into functional protein and fiber ingredients. That milestone marked the transition from pilot operations to full-scale manufacturing and laid the groundwork for broader commercial expansion.

Yeastup, based in Brugg, Switzerland, specializes in processing brewer’s yeast, a byproduct of beer production. Using a patented method, the company extracts protein and fiber ingredients from yeast sourced from breweries in Switzerland and elsewhere in Europe. Its portfolio includes Yeastin, a functional yeast protein, and UpFiber Beta-Glucan.

UpFiber Beta-Glucan is derived from brewer’s yeast and contains up to 85% beta-glucan. Yeastup has developed the ingredient for applications including supplements, functional foods, nutrition products, gut health concepts, and prebiotic formulations. The company highlighted its high fiber content and dispersibility as key attributes for food and nutrition manufacturers.

“The cooperation with DKSH enables Yeastup to expand the market presence of Beta-Glucan in the region,” the companies announced. DKSH will also provide technical expertise through its Business Line Food & Beverage Ingredients.

Daniel Gnos, Founder & CEO of Yeastup, said, “We are very pleased to collaborate with DKSH. With its strong network and technical expertise in food and nutrition ingredients, DKSH is an ideal partner to introduce UpFiber Beta-Glucan to customers across the DACH region and support the market development of our yeast-derived ingredients.”

Frank Maus, Manager, Local Business Line, Food & Beverage Ingredients, DACH, DKSH, added, “DKSH is delighted to partner with Yeastup and expand our portfolio with an innovative ingredient derived from yeast. UpFiber Beta-Glucan addresses the growing demand for functional and sustainable ingredients in food, nutrition, and supplement applications.”
