Meatable and TruMeat partner to scale cultivated meat production in Singapore
Dutch cultivated meat company Meatable has announced a strategic collaboration with Singapore-based contract manufacturer TruMeat to accelerate the commercialization of cultivated meat products. The partnership will focus on process optimization, media development, and the establishment of a new production facility in Singapore utilizing Meatable’s proprietary technology.
The planned facility will be the first in Singapore designed to produce cultivated meat at volumes and cost levels suitable for commercial partners to develop, test, and launch products in the market. TruMeat brings extensive experience in media development and process optimization, which are critical for scaling production efficiently.

“This is the next step in our journey to make cultivated meat accessible and affordable,” said Jeff Tripician, CEO of Meatable. “We have full trust in TruMeat's expertise, and together, we are confident in our ability to optimize processes and scale efficiently. This collaboration brings us closer to providing the meat industry with the solutions it needs to deliver great tasting, sustainable meat to customers and consumers worldwide.”
James Chui, Chairman of TruMeat, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating, “We recognize that Meatable is a clear leader in the cultivated meat space, and we have been waiting for a technology with this potential. We are very confident that by combining our strengths, we can achieve the necessary cost reductions and the commercial scale to make cultivated meat a viable option for global markets.”
Meatable's technology, known as Opti-Ox, enables the production of muscle and fat cells from a single animal cell within four days, significantly reducing production time compared to traditional methods. This efficiency is expected to contribute to lowering production costs, making cultivated meat more competitive with conventional meat products.
The collaboration with TruMeat follows Meatable's previous initiatives in Singapore, including a partnership with ESCO Aster to produce cultivated pork and the establishment of the Future of Meat Innovation Center with plant-based butcher Love Handle. These efforts underscore Meatable's commitment to expanding its presence in the Asia-Pacific region and advancing sustainable meat alternatives.
Singapore has been at the forefront of regulatory approval for cultivated meat, with the Singapore Food Agency granting the first approval for commercial sale in 2020. The country's supportive regulatory environment and investment in food innovation make it an attractive location for companies like Meatable seeking to scale production and bring products to market.
As the cultivated meat industry continues to evolve, collaborations such as the one between Meatable and TruMeat represent significant steps toward achieving cost-effective, scalable production. The new facility in Singapore is poised to play a crucial role in meeting the growing global demand for sustainable protein sources.
