Tetra Pak retains EcoVadis Platinum status as sustainability score climbs to 87
Tetra Pak has secured an EcoVadis Platinum medal for the second consecutive year, improving its sustainability assessment score from 85/100 in 2025 to 87/100 in 2026. The result places the Swiss-headquartered food processing and packaging company among the top 1% of more than 150,000 businesses assessed globally.
• Tetra Pak has retained EcoVadis Platinum status with an improved score of 87/100.
• Higher scores in environment, ethics and sustainable procurement contributed to the result.
• Its supplier sustainability program now covers 145 suppliers representing the majority of company spending.
The latest assessment recognizes improvements across several areas of Tetra Pak's sustainability performance, particularly environmental management, business ethics and sustainable procurement. The company attributes its higher score partly to more extensive reporting, additional performance indicators and stronger supply chain due diligence.
EcoVadis evaluates corporate sustainability performance across four principal categories: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Its ratings are used by businesses to assess their own practices and evaluate sustainability performance among suppliers and commercial partners.
Platinum is the highest medal awarded under the assessment system, placing Tetra Pak within the top percentile of companies evaluated. Its two-point improvement comes despite already achieving that distinction in 2025.

For Tetra Pak, whose equipment and packaging systems are used throughout the global food and beverage industry, much of the work involves activities outside its own manufacturing operations. Its customers depend on extensive networks of raw material suppliers, packaging producers, processing facilities and distribution partners, creating sustainability considerations across several stages of food production.
During 2025, the company expanded the sustainability information published in its annual reporting, including more detailed disclosures concerning procurement activities. It also introduced additional performance indicators intended to provide greater visibility into its progress and strengthened due diligence procedures covering its supply chain.
These changes contributed to the improved assessment, alongside actions relating to environmental performance and ethical business practices.
One area receiving particular attention is supplier engagement. Tetra Pak's Join Us in Protecting the Planet program now involves 145 suppliers, which collectively account for the majority of the company's total procurement spending.
The initiative addresses climate action, nature, human rights and transparency, extending the company's sustainability efforts into businesses providing materials, components and services used throughout its operations.
Working with suppliers is particularly relevant for a company operating at the scale of Tetra Pak, where purchasing decisions and supplier practices can influence the environmental and social performance of the wider value chain.
The program also reflects the growing importance of procurement in corporate sustainability assessments. Rather than evaluating environmental performance solely within a company's own facilities, EcoVadis considers how sustainability requirements are incorporated into purchasing policies and supplier relationships.
Tetra Pak's improved sustainable procurement score suggests progress in this area, although the company has not disclosed the individual category scores or the precise contribution of each initiative to its overall result.
The award also comes as food manufacturers continue to face operational pressures associated with climate change, resource availability and supply chain disruption.
Tetra Pak supplies processing and packaging technologies intended to help producers manufacture, preserve and distribute food efficiently. Its sustainability strategy consequently encompasses both the environmental performance of its own business and the equipment and services supplied to customers.
Improving resource efficiency throughout food processing and distribution remains an important part of that approach, particularly where manufacturers are seeking to manage energy consumption, material use and production costs without compromising food safety.
The company describes food system resilience as a central consideration in its sustainability activities, connecting the reliability of food production and distribution with environmental and social responsibilities.
Martin Scott, Executive Vice President, Sustainability & Communications at Tetra Pak, said the latest recognition reflected work undertaken throughout the business and its commercial relationships.
“As pressure increases on global food systems, strengthening food resilience has become a critical challenge. Achieving EcoVadis Platinum for the second consecutive year demonstrates the sustained commitment of our colleagues, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to embedding sustainability across our business and value chain. This reinforces our commitment to supporting our customers with the resilience they need to succeed in a changing world.”
The 2026 result provides another external assessment of Tetra Pak's sustainability management practices, with the higher score reflecting developments made during the previous reporting period.
Although the Platinum designation remains unchanged from 2025, the improvement from 85 to 87 points indicates that the company has continued to develop its policies, reporting and procurement procedures.
Tetra Pak has not provided a breakdown of the individual category improvements or announced a new numerical target for its next EcoVadis assessment. Its latest disclosures instead identify supplier engagement, expanded sustainability reporting and stronger due diligence as areas of progress contributing to this year's result.
